[Cautions for handling cemented carbides]
* Cemented carbides can fracture with the shock of being dropped.
They should be checked if there is chipping or crack, and the other defects when the package gets open.
* Cemented carbides are approximately twice as heavy as steel.
Please take care not to drop it on the hands or feet.
【Cautions related to the shape】
* The products like thin-tubulars or sheets or with notches can fracture with little shock or load.
Please take care about the method of gripping or holding it and not to load it excessively.
[Cautions in machining cemented carbides]
1. Grinding and Polishing
* Cemented carbides can fracture or chip when it gets shock or excessive load. Please confirm if it is mounted firmly with the holder before machining.
* As cemented carbides are less resistant to impact, please do not use a metal hammer.
* As cemented carbides are less magnetism, please confirm if it is fixed firmly in using magnet.
* As cemented carbides get very slippery at the grinded and polished faces and extremely sharp at the edges, please take care these in handling it.
2. Electric discharge manufacturing or Wire cutting
* As cemented carbides can get cracks most easily at the electric dischage manufactured face with no added treatment, please consider the conditions of manufacture.
* As cemented carbides can get cracks during wire cut, please check if there are cracks before going to the further process.
3. Brazing
* As cemented carbides can get cracks in brazing, please check if thre are cracks before brazing.
Cemented carbides can get cracks by the rapid cooling or heating caused by the spatter(melted steel) attached in the welding process.
Please take care about the circumstances of welding process.
4. HIT Treated Products
* In case of drilling or tapping at the embedded (diffused junction) point, a crack or loosing of embedded piece can happen. Please check if there is defects there.
5. Safety at manufacturing
* Please use the safety equipments and safety covers fitted to the machinery. And please wear the protective glasses, gloves, shoes and helmets.
